Ephesians 3:20 NIV
[20] Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
Whose Power?
Writing to the Ephesian believers, Paul felt obliged to encourage them. Whatever was happening there must have generated a crisis of faith since Paul later taught them how to fight in the spiritual realm (Ephesians 6). This was an important premise for then and now, as it isn’t always easy to recognize what we are actually up against.

How readily do we recognize that what’s before is not solely about the physical realm?
Application
When life presents us with David and Goliath moments, we need to take a step back and assess the situation dispassionately. That step back affords us the wisdom to realize that we’re not fighting alone. In fact, the battle is not even ours.
When we revert once again to Paul’s assertion in Ephesians 6 that this is all spiritual, we note that it is part of a power struggle. In fact, it’s not even being fought by us, nor in this plane. (So, many times when we’re losing our tempers over little things, it may be that the devil’s using those little things to distract us from Y’shua.) Hence, Ephesians 6:10 onwards, invites us to be strong in the power of the Lord, because our fight involves spiritual entities, not human.
Our Nougat, therefore, sets the stage for that conversation. By using the phrase, ‘his power at work within us,’ Paul is already establishing that it is possible for another power to be at work – and thankfully, it’s not in us. The ‘his’ whom Paul mentions is none other than Y’shua, Christ Jesus, Who dwells within us at *the exact moment we claim Him as our Lord and Saviour*.
That’s Who we have on our side. Just like David. So when people and situations come at us – because they will – keys not get our remain flustered. Remind ourselves that there is a power at work within us, and that power never works alone. Y’shua comes as a package deal: He’s part of the Trinity. So, the power we have within us is creative (like our Creator, God), it is forgiving (it even sees past the human to the power at work, and forgive the human), and its multi- facets for every situation (just like spiritual gifts and our armour provided by God’s Spirit).
Let’s look to Y’shua, find Him within, and be at peace.
