Nougat 12

This morning, like many mornings, I woke with a song of praise on my heart. It made me happy to begin my day with The One Who loves me despite all my failings. Of course, my mind travelled to our reflections, and it was as if God’s Spirit was asking me why Christ’s return seems so far away. I didn’t get myself a ‘full’ answer, but one thought remained clear in my heart. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.

Luke 15:8 NIV

[8] “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?

In Search of the Lost One

Have you ever saved to purchase an item with cash, and just when you are there you realise you’ve lost a few coins? Or, worse yet, have you picked an item at the store, supermarket, or shop, only to find that you arrive at the till, you don’t have enough money to pay for the item? Not fun. In fact, it can be a bit embarrassing.

If that’s happened to you before, what did you do? I recall frantically searching for the money, but not finding it; so I left the items in the shop and raced home. How I searched! To no avail. The next day, I find the notes in my emergency cache at the office. By that point, I no longer wanted the item, but was so relieved to have found the money.

Point to Ponder

What if Christ put in as much effort in restoring us to the fold when we sin?

Application

Can you recall a time when Christ’s return couldn’t include you, although the world knows/knew you as a committed believer? Yup, it’s a heart moment for some of us. That has happened with me even since being ordained. It was a weird, rather – it was an uncomfortable moment – for me, to accept that I was a lost coin. True, I knew exactly where I was, and God knew where I was. But it wasn’t where I ought to have been. Thus, I was lost.

In that season, when I came to my senses, I needed two things. Firstly, I needed Jesus to find me. But I also needed Him to help me find myself. More than that, I absolutely needed Christ to wait a little bit, to delay His return, so that I would not be a lost coin at the time of His return.

Got it?

Yes, many generations have come and gone since Christ’s Ascension. He’s been preparing that mansion for several Moons now. But if God’s will is that no one should perish, then for each generation, in order to be true to His promise, Christ has to offer us ample opportunity to be found. Some of us might even have chosen not to be found.

Prayer Point

Is there someone whom we’d like Christ to find before His return? This could be the opportunity to pray that Christ’s efforts are not in vain. We can pray for that person’s salvation. Selah

May all we seek be found in Christ
