As we continue on this journey of faith, our walk must match our talk. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.

Matthew 24:44-45 NIV

[44] So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

[45] “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?

Faithful Above All Else

I agree, the will isn’t always easily correlated to the deed. Sometimes life happens, and we lose focus, resulting in our falling short of God’s standards. At those times, we may adhere to other people’s standards, compromising our faith-stance in the process. Our Nougat today reminds us that integrity, that is faithfulness to God’s standard, is important. It isn’t about convenience. It isn’t a part time lifestyle.

Self-Check

To whom do we consider ourselves most accountable? Does it show in our everyday lives?

Application

According to Matthew, Y’shua says we can’t predict the exact timing of Y’shua’s return. With that caveat, He tells us we must remain faithful at all times. Here, our faithfulness equals readiness. In the analogy, we realise that Y’shua directs the challenge primarily to the ‘supervisors’, not the regular staff. This suggests that leaders of the faith need to make our calling and election sure.

Are we truly feeding those under our spiritual care? Ezekiel warns, wow to the shepherds who feast on the flock and scatter the sheep (read more in Ezekiel 34:2-5). Y’shua’s admonition indicates that if we are still feasting on, and scattering sheep at Christ’s return, the consequences may not be bearable. Our service must be marked by integrity, not compromise. We owe it to ourselves and God.

Of course, Christ’s commissioning of the disciples in Matthew 28 implies the priesthood of all believers. Each one is mandated to reach at least one. In that case, none of us is exempt from living a wise, faithful, and fulfilling life for Christ. It becomes part of our witness. It qualifies us for readiness to meet Him at His return.

Should our time to meet Christ be now, let’s opt for recognition as faithful and wise.

Point to Ponder

Are we preoccupied with critiquing the lifestyles of faith leaders, rather than our own? What individual steps do we need to take to strengthen our faithful witness?

May all we seek be found in Christ
