Sometimes in life, it seems all we have are problems. In those moments, we might say, ‘first, middle and last name is problem’, because troubles are overwhelming. As we are believers in Y’shua, it may be off-putting to think troubles will come, as some of us buy into the lie that when we believe in God, problems will automatically disappear. That is not scriptural. Consider instead, Today’s Holy Nougat.

Psalms 34:19 CEB

[19] The righteous have many problems, but the LORD delivers them from everyone.

Deliverance, not Disappearance

David could not have kept a straight face if he suggested that troubles aren’t part of our lives. He knew that first-hand. Despised by his brothers, or at least disregarded by them as a youth; he was familiar with the sting of rejection and also the pain of being underestimated. They might not be the type of troubles others faced, but they were very real for him.

Self-Check

I know we’ve been on this topic for a while, but how do we respond when troubles seem to take residence in our space?

Application

I love David’s comforting words. It helps us when we are in the thick of our persecution. They remind me of Jesus’ words in the Gospels. Can we remember that Y’shua said, ‘In this world you will have trouble.’ That applies to each of us. Trouble, like death and taxes, is sure. As long as a few humans are living on Earth, trouble can occur. But Y’shua didn’t stop at the troubles in John 16. Verse 33 continues, ‘But take heart, for I (Y’shua) have conquered the world.’ Can you see and hear how it resonates with what David said?

David declared that we believers, who are made righteous by our faith, shall definitely face troubles (see Matthew 5:10-12);

BUT

YHWH shall deliver us.

Not maybe, definitely. Without fail.

Can we remember that in our troubled times?

By God’s grace, deliverance has come! Let us praise the Lord.

Point to Ponder

Can this Nougat be enough of an assurance for us in our seasons of affliction?

May all we seek be found in Christ
