Moses ‘ hymn continues with that prophetic celebratory timbre. The prophecies speak to the new land, thus confirming God’s promise to the Children of Israel. This invites us to relect on how much we trust God. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.

Exodus 15:17-18 AFV

[17] You shall bring them and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, the place, O Lord, You have made for You to dwell in; the Sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.

[18] The Lord shall reign forever and ever.”

What God has Established

In ending his song, Moses continues to credit God for this deliverance. We already saw the great rescue, and some of us know that the journey thereafter was filled with challenges. Whether Moses sensed this or not, his confidence in God is contagious.

How contagious is our faith?

Application

Moses spoke to the simple request he made on the Lord’s behalf to Pharaoh at the onset. Back then, he sought permission for the Children of Israel to leave Egypt to worship God. Pharaoh knew that the request was intended for the Hebrews’ liberation. Despite pharaoh’s negative response, God’s will prevailed. For, there they were, past the first hurdle; on their way to their inheritance, just as God had promised.

I’m not entirely sure that Moses knew exactly where God was leading them. Yes, he’d spent 40 years outside of Egypt, but be didn’t go away for a reconnaissance tour. He was shepherding in the wilderness while hiding from the very same God he later represented. Now as he led the Children of Israel, Moses was totally dependent on God for everything. He needed directions and coverage for a whole nation.

When God establishes something, God is prepared to see it through, so it is worth trusting God in those situations. Without all the details, Moses trusted that God would fulfil what God had promised. So much so, that he referred to a sanctuary, a permanent structure that would not yet have been part of their reality. Years later, Solomon built the Sanctuary.

This is the kind of faith God desires from each of us as we embark on our life’s journeys. Just as Moses put everything in God’s hands, so can we. Can we travel far enough into the future with God to believe that God will accomplish what God has ordained for our lives? Will we trust God enough to move forward into the unknown with God?

Abram and Sarai did, and they reaped abundant blessings. Moses did and was able to lead the Children of Israel to the Promised Land. What is our story? Will we trust God?

Point to Ponder

Is there anything that’s preventing us from walking boldly into what God has already established for us?

May all we seek be found in Christ
